From a hand
written letter in our collection, a woman writes that
as a child living close to Belfast, she wathced as the
famous Titanic was being built. Her father and brother
both attended the launch by invitation of the Lord Mayor.
Altough this has not been verified, she states that just
before the maiden voyage she remembers several pasengers
and crew stayed at the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle,
Ireland, as seen in this 1910 Cigarette card.
