An
amazing advertisement from the Brooklyn Daily
Eagle newspaper. The date of this ad is March
15, 1912, a little less than a month before
Titanic's maiden voyage. It is advertising upcoming
trips on Titanic (and Olympic) from New York,
starting on April 20th. As many know, Titanic
never reached New York, so these sailing dates
were unfortunately never meant to be.
This
ad in itself is a great and scarce collectible
but what makes this exceptional is the adjoining
ad to the right. It features the sailing dates
for the Carpathia (see enlarged picture), which
left port on April 11, 1912. Within a few days,
the Carpathia would heroically steam to the
rescue and pick up the survivors of the ill
fated Titanic and return to New York.
