Nicknamed “The Widows Seat.” Possibly the only known surviving chair from the Titanic rescue ship RMS Carpathia. Oral history claims this chair was removed in New York to clear deck space when Carpathia transitioned into a WWI troop ship. It was held in a Cunard Co. storage and eventually sold to a private owner at the conclusion of the war. This deck chair is an exact match to several famous photos showing Titanic widows depressingly lounging on Carpathia’s deck while steaming towards New York harbor. Previously exhibited at The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Center in Ontario, Canada and authenticated by the world’s leading expert in Titanic deck chairs. Image shown while on display at the Ronald Reagan National LIbray Titanic Exhibit in 2017/18.
